The Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation has published an analysis entitled “Practices from the field. Advocating for Women in the Euro-Mediterranean region” within the framework of the CSO WINS project “"Capacity building in the Southern Mediterranean to open policy dialogue and monitoring for women in society” funded by the EU.This analysis presents 12 successful practices in advocacy and policy dialogue pertaining to gender equality, developed in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The 12 practices have been selected through a call for proposal for the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to submit an advocacy or a policy dialogue initiative considered to be successful in the political, economic, social and cultural field. The selection took into account criteria like: the CSO experience in advocacy and policy dialogue, the effectiveness, the innovation, the duplicability of the practice and the need for a geographical and thematic balance within the Euro-Mediterranean region.
With the aim to foster the transfer of the lessons learnt, this analysis proposes approaches and tools to mobilize policy makers and public opinion in favor of women’s rights. Furthermore, it is based on eight components that systematically recur in all the 12 practices. This overview has been conceived as a tool to outline critical success factors that can be useful for all those actors willing to engage in policy dialogue and advocacy for gender equality.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
