On 7 March 2016, the Ibn Battuta Foundation, member of the Foundation, paid tribute to two women entrepreneurs of Moroccan origin. The IEMed was invited to this event as the coordinator of the report "Women in the Mediterranean" and it gave an overview of the situation of female entrepreneurship in the region, particularly in Spain. In this country, many women have faced the economic crisis by creating innovative companies in the field of marketing and social networks.
However, in general, women who wish to start businesses face many obstacles, such as difficult access to funding, socio-cultural barriers and the balance between professional and personal life.
Finally, it was recalled that the Ibn Battuta Foundation provides information and guidance for obtaining micro-credit to immigrant women who have settled in Barcelona.
