How women's empowerment can contribute to economic growth? How can governments facilitate the participation of women in the economy? How do we enhance women's access to financing? These issues were addressed at the 7th Forum of Women Entrepreneurs in the Mediterranean organized by the Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen - AFAEMME at the Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona.
This forum was held on 27 November 2015 as part of the VIII Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders and brought together 200 participants from across the region, including many entrepreneurs’ associations. Delphine Borione, Deputy Secretary-General of the Union for the Mediterranean and Najoua Attia, Chairperson of the Commission on Women Entrepreneurs of the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry - ASCAME were among the many stakeholders.
The Foundation was represented by the European Institute of the Mediterranean and the Forum Femmes Méditerranée and it has contributed to the debates through the presentation of its First monitoring report of the Ministerial Conferences that addresses, among other topics, the issue of the participation of women in economic life.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
