The Foundation organised the presentation of its First monitoring report of the Ministerial Conferences on "Women in the Mediterranean" in the Centre de Recherches d'Etudes, de Documentation et d'Information sur la Femme, in Tunis, in partnership with the Center of Arab Woman for Training and Research.
The session was attended by Samira Marai Friaa, the Minister of Women, Family and Childhood of Tunisia, and it gathered some fifty people, mostly representatives of active civil society in women's rights and the fight against violence against women.
To be noticed, the interventions of Esther Fouchier, from the Mediterranean Forum of Women, and Maria-Àngels Roque, of the European Institute of the Mediterranean, who are the coordinators of the Report, Pilhes Nathalie, the Deputy to the Interministerial Delegate for the Mediterranean of the French State and Hedia Bel Haj Youssef, as the author of the chapter on women's participation in the political life in Tunisia.
The report "Mediterranean Women" has allowed to contribute to the follow up on the implementation of the commitments of the Union for the Mediterranean’s States in favor of equality at local level and civil society as part of the missions and objectives of the Foundation.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
