From 17 to 19 October, 2015 in Lisbon
The Foundation participated in several activities in the European framework of the closure of the 4èrme World Women’s March, including in the gatherings with many associations of women committed to working for equality that took place on 17 and 18 October at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In the morning of October 19, Maria-Àngels Roque and Esther Fouchier, members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and coordinators of the report Women in the Mediterranean, met with Portuguese NGOs and activists at the Maison des associations - Centre Alzira Maria Lemos.
In the afternoon of October 19, it was dedicated to the Seminar "Women in the Euro-Mediterranean: First follow-up report of the ministerial compromise," whose objective was to discuss the progress made since the last Ministerial Conference on the role of women in society with representatives of Mediterranean States, the Council of Europe and Portuguese authorities. The Seminar involved the participation of five ambassadors of Algeria, Egypt, France, Morocco and Tunisia, as well as Senén Florensa, President of the European Institute of the Mediterranean. It was organized by the Portuguese Platform of Human Rights with the support from the European Parliament Office in Portugal.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
