Starting the implementation of the 7 local mobilisation actions for equality

On 9 September 2015, 7 representatives of organizations in the southern Mediterranean met in Marrakech (Morocco) to discuss the themes, methodologies and target groups for their pilot mobilisation actions. Each action aims to make an exact overview of the situation and collect successful practices related to a topic of interest at the local level. Through research, reflection and debate, different equality actors will be engaged in an unprecedented networking approach at local level. Knowledge will, as a second step, be provided on the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation’s platform to make known and share the situation of women in the field to multiple institutions and policy makers at the Euro- Mediterranean level.

These pilot actions have been developed within the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of actors working for gender equality", of the project Women for the future in the Mediterranean, funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and the project “Developing Women’s Empowerment”, labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean. They have been launched by 7 organisations: Femmes en communication - FEC (Algeria); Appropriate Communication Techniques for Development - ACT (Egypt); Building bridges (Jordan); Committee for the Follow - Up on Women's Issues - CFUWI (Lebanon); Réseau Femmes Solidaires (Morocco); Voix de la femme - VJF Jemmel (Tunisia) and Women's Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling - WCLAC (Palestine).
