The Research seminar organised by the RUSEMEG constitutes the first research, promoting action on gender carried out under the project « Strengthening the capacity of equality actors » conducted by the European Institute of the Mediterranean - IEMed, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research - CAWTAR, the French government, the Fédération de la Ligue Démocratique des Droits des Femmes au Maroc – FLDDF, the Forum Femmes Méditerranée - FFM and the Euro-Mediterranean academic and scientific network on gender and women - RUSEMEG, with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development - MAEDI.

This research seminar took place in the School of Governance and Economy of Rabat and it gathered 69 participants from Morocco, Spain, France, Tunisia, Algeria and Lebanon. The objective was to consolidate knowledge and to explore new tracks of research in terms of women’s economic empowerment. 37 PhD students, who analysed discrimination against women, pointed out the progress of their thesis and received interesting advices from expert researchers and professors of thefield. Finally, 9 associations working in favour of gender equality presented their work, bringing together organisations and the academia, which was one of the target objectives of the project.

This seminary is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacity of equality actors”, of the project “Women for the future in the Mediterranean” funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and the project “Developing Women’s Empowerment”, labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
