From 2 - 16 May 2023, Plaça de l’Ajuntament, 31 hosts the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (EMWF)’s drawing exhibition "Drawing 4 Equality. Desafiant els rols de gènere a les dues ribes de la Mediterrània" ("Drawing 4 Equality. Challenging gender roles on both shores of the Medeterranean"). This activity is organised by the City Council of Calella with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council (Deputació de Barcelona) in the framework of the initiative "Dones que Transformen".
The exhibit portrays the selected works of a contest which the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation organized in 2019 in order to shed light on artists working on gender-related issues. The contest was launched together with one of the Foundation’s founding members -the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed)- and awarded the winners in Barcelona on the 25th of September 2019.
More than 200 amateur and professional illustrators and cartoonists from 30 Euro-Mediterranean countries participated in the contest, presenting artworks that sought to challenge the traditional definitions of masculinity and femininity in order to promote a more equal society and denounce structural gender discriminations.
The copyright of these artworks is exclusively owned by the artists. In case you want to use one of the images, always credit the artist and ask for their permission.
The next exhibit will be hosted in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. For further information on the whereabouts of the exhibition, we will inform you shortly.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
