10 Years Women Now

10 Years Women Now

Ten years have passed since the establishment of Women Now for Development under exceptional circumstances following the start of the Syrian revolution. Throughout the years, the organization has been able to continue its work and face all challenges because its team believes in the importance of women’s participation in building democracy and protecting the dignity of all Syrians.

On our tenth anniversary, we celebrate our small achievements – achievements that continue to accumulate and form our memories. These achievements emphasize the importance of appreciating our personal efforts, which did not wane despite who and what we have lost – our loved ones, our homes, and our cities. We moved at a steady pace during the last decade. We started directly responding to our needs as Syrian women facing war and militarization and moved to highlight female narratives and authors, while launching our research on feminist knowledge that encompasses Syrian women, without exclusion nor exception. We also continued working at a large scale for the Women Now Team and for Syrian women in general.

Ten women from the same team at Women Now participated in this video. The number of members within the team now exceeds 124, most of whom cannot appear and participate in public in the organization’s activities due to security considerations. We hope to celebrate a day when all women are able to appear and participate publicly and raise their voices without fear. A special Thank You to director Guevara Namer– who made this film – and to all the film crew, artistic and design staff, as well as all those who engaged in this production.
