The Women’s Rights Unit of the National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms (NADRF) launched its online campaign "Grandma Amina’s Tales" in order to raise awareness among women of legal mechanisms, including national legislation and international agreements related to women.
One of the most important requirements of our current era is that the pillars of equality and the principles of democracy are spread and that all forms of violence and discrimination among all human beings are eliminated. Therefore, NADRF launched the campaign "Grandma Amina’s Tales" to receive complaints from women who are subjected to any kind of violence or discrimination in society and to consider all national legislation and international agreements available to protect their rights.
The campaign will work to spread awareness of rights and duties by re-publishing the principles of all international conventions relating to women; raising women’s awareness of their rights and to develop intellectual and collective awareness of women and their intellectual rehabilitation
The campaign works in conjunction with the direction of the Egyptian state to clearly give women space to be present in public work, especially after the recent decisions that allowed women to take up the judiciary platforms, and occupy many positions that were denied them for long periods.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
