The Community Media Center implements 5 awareness workshops on cyberviolence in Khan Yunis

The awareness-raising workshops on “Digital Rights and Protection from Electronic Violence” organized by the Community Media Center is part of the activities of the “Community Mobilization and Media to Promote Women’s Access to Justice” project and security in the Gaza Strip” within the framework of the second phase of the Sawasiya project, the joint program between the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UN-WOMAN, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to strengthen the rule of law in the State of Palestine.

The project aims to improve women’s access to justice and enhance their rights through advocacy and awareness efforts and to raise awareness of the concepts of gender justice, human rights and women’s rights in international conventions and to combat gender-based violence, as well as raising societal awareness of the importance of cybercrime prevention, in addition to Promote civic education for children and youth.

Andalib Adwan - Director of CMC, said that the Community Media Center worked through this project to train 25 lawyers and young media professionals on issues of women’s rights in local and international conventions and laws, and violations of women’s rights in the digital space as a form of gender-based violence. 

In the same context, Kholoud Al-Sawalmeh, Project Manager at CMC, said that the lawyers and media professionals who participated in the training "Preparing trainers to enhance protection against cybercrime" then led 5 awareness-raising workshops on "digital rights and protection from electronic violence" in Khan Yunis Governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, in which more than 200 people of both sexes, with and without disabilities, of all age groups, including students, workers and housewives, participated.

During the awareness sessions, the facilitators focused on digital rights and their relationship to human rights, women’s rights in local and international laws, and addressed cyber violations of these rights, in addition to cybercrime and related laws, and protection tools and mechanisms while using social networks.
