During the Forum of Mediterranean Worlds held in Marseille on February 7-8, EMWF with its founding members – including FFM, IEMed, and CAWTAR – organized workshops and round tables on equal rights between women and men in the Mediterranean region.
During these workshops, various topics were discussed including gender and climate, women’s economic empowerment, legal and social rights, and the fight against gender violence - thanks to the support and contribution of the town hall of Marseille.
EMWF convened its Executive Committee the day after the closing of the Forum and unanimously elected Ms. Soukaina Bouraoui, Executive Director of CAWTAR (Centre of Arab Women for Training and Research) based in Tunis, as President of the Foundation. The Executive Committee thanks Ms. Fouzia Assouli, Honorary President of FLDDF (Federal League for Women´s Rights) for having assumed the presidency of EMWF with skill and dedication since its creation in 2014.
In this forum, the founders underlined that the Foundation will continue to support the projects of associations for the defense of women’s rights - at local and international level - for a society that recognizes equality between women and men.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
