The present study is a legal study that analyzes the jurisprudence of Lebanese Judges of Urgent Matters issued under Law 293/2014 on domestic violence, as well as the jurisprudence of various Lebanese religious courts pertaining to family law matters with elements of domestic violence.
The aim of this study is to identify inaccurate current legal gaps in practices of these judges and courts, in an effort to improve the outcome of cases for survivors of domestic violence in the fight against gender-based violence, which is one of the key engagements of the European Union and the subject of its latest Gender Action Plan for 2021–2025.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
