An anthropological study of the presence of women in Morocco

Research in the field of art anthropology of art poses many difficulties. These difficulties are further complicated by the fact that the spiritual aspect is strongly present and intersects with the religious, religious aspect to a higher degree.

During the last century, Morocco has been the scene of many studies by a group of anthropologists and ethnologists who have produced a huge amount of studies and research that show the richness of the religious, musical, linguistic and belief culture of North Africa

Among the ritual ceremonies,  the hadra rituals were singled out for women in different regions of Morocco. The paper presents two case-studies (the Hadra women in the city of Chefchaouen, and the Gnaoua celebrations in Morocco) in order to analyse its various symbolic elements. 

The paper revolves around the importance of the female presence in the spiritual cultural scene of Moroccan society, and the role that this presence plays in promoting the religious and artistic identity of women.
