If North Africa is understudied by academics of the Middle East, the Maghrib is less so and Maghribian women are even more less so. The four books under review redirect attention to this region and the potential it has for researchers and academics in general. In covering four centuries and ranging over four countries, the books link the multifacetious and gendered histories of the Maghrib to its present and depict how the local, regional and transregional intermingle and constitute a valuable reference not only for maghribian and North African studies, but also for the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean studies, and, hence constitute a milestone for regional and global comparisons.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
