This study sheds light on the issue of Libyan women’s rights, particularly from a legal approach, by analysing the Libyan legislation.
The report has a multifarious aim: to contribute to enlarge a database on the rights of Libyan women; to look into the most prominent legal texts regarding this topic; to put forward a legal protocol regarding discriminatory texts so that women can count on effective protection against any violation or infringement of the law; to learn about the nature and activities, needs and challenges of Libyan civil society institutions working for gender equality, as well as the mechanisms implemented at a national level on this matter.
