The Ministry of Family, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development conducted during January 2 and March 10, 2019 this study, which included a sample of 13543 women between the ages of 18 and 64 years in all parts of the Kingdom, to explore the extent of violence against women and to obtain new and reliable data to elaborate a strategy to combat this phenomenon.
The research concluded frightening results, showing that more than half of women are exposed to violence in Morocco, as the percentage reached 54.4%. In contrast, more than 90% of victims do not file complaints, especially married women. The study also identified various forms of violationsand violence experienced by women, ranging from rape and physical assaults to wage discrimination and deprivation of inheritance, and psychological, physical and economic violence.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
