This study assesses Libya’s compliance with legal norms on women’s rights and gender equality. It is a complex legal and factual research on Libya’s efforts to ensure gender equality and the opportunities and challenges that underpin women’s empowerment and their legal status. As such, the report provides a factual analysis of data on the complex interplay between national laws, policies and practices as well as the social, cultural and religious norms affecting the lives of women in Libya. The report focuses mainly on "real" or de facto barriers to gender equality, some of which may be the result of poorly drafted or non-existent legislations.
* Given the file’s large size, we divided the report into 11 chapter that you can read by clicking the link below or here.
