This publication draws up a first national state of play of gender equality in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). This study compares the SSE with the rest of the economy areas, to identify its strengths and areas of improvement. The study shows that SSE is not spared by gender inequalities: women’s employment is highly polarized (1 in 2 women work in social service), the glass ceiling persists (1 woman is 2 times less likely than a man to have access to a managerial or senior position), part-time work weighs more on women (41% of women’s employment compared with 25% for men), etc.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
