This article focuses on girls’ access to school education in "Area C" where security and administrative authorities are under Israeli control since the Oslo Accords in 1993, including factors that lead to girls’ recurrent absences and school dropouts.
The article is based on a field diagnosis in six localities of "Area C" in Bethlehem (Al-Meniah, Al-Rashayida, Kisan) and Al Khalil (Al-Bweeb, Ma’en and Zif). This study was elaborated by the Psycho-Social Counseling Center for Women (PSCCW) in collaboration with the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (FFEM) and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed).
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
