On October 11 and 12, 2018, the Armenian capital Yerevan hosted the 17th Conference of Heads of State and Government of French-Speaking Countries, during which the Francophonie’s strategy "Promotion of Gender Equality, Rights and Empowerment of Women and Girls" was adopted.
The strategy aims, especially, to ensure gender equality in the public and private spheres, and to ensure girls’ and women’s access to inclusive and quality education, training, decent work and education, as well as to promote their empowerment, and to prevent and combat all forms of violence, abuse and discrimination against them, and ensure their full, effective and equal participation in political, economic, cultural and public life, including conflict prevention and resolution.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
