Two out of three youths engaged in subsidized recreational activity are boys. From the start of college, girls stop using leisure equipment and quickly become invisible in the public space. Boys are more present and occupy almost alone "city stadiums", "skate parks", youth centers, gymnasiums, open access areas, rehearsal rooms.
Through a comparative field survey of the use of spaces and equipment by youth for and entertainment, this research questions public policies on notions of gender diversity and real equality between girls and boys in French society.
