Field diagnosis: The role of elected women in the province of Ifrane

31.07.2018 / Created by (EMWF)

Despite a favourable legal framework for equality of opportunity in the mechanisms for political action and access to political responsibilities, women’s presence in elected positions in local authorities in Morocco remains below expectations. This diagnosis explores measures and programmes related to integrating gender into the management of public affairs. Looking at the case of female elected representatives from Ifrane, a predominantly rural province, the diagnosis identifies opportunities for female elected representatives to be able to play a greater role in running local authorities and developing their regions.
