With the rise of new technologies and political, social and economic shifts, new models of non-normative intimate, sexual and maternal relations are emerging in the south of the Mediterranean. Whether related to birth control practices such as abortion, contraception etc. or to the practices of bodies domination and enslavement like rape and prostitution, the concepts of women’s bodies are constantly evolving. To explore these shifts, the Gender Equality Department at the European Institute of the Mediterranean which hosts the headquarters of the Euro – Mediterranean Women’s Foundation, interviewed Marie Debs, president of Wardah Boutros – Equality Association, and Rhimou Hajoubm coordinator of the social cluster of the 100% Mamans (100% Mothers) Association who shared their views on this subject.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
