This paper inetnds to identify the most important factors affecting women’s poverty, whether economic, social or cultural. In this article, poverty is defined as deprivation of opportunities and choices. The article also provides a sociological approach to the feminization of poverty and highlights some of the effects of this phenomenon, including domestic violence and the deterioration of women’s health.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
