This study aims at addressing the issue of the representation of women in the Moroccan parliament after the two parliamentary elections of 2011 and 2016, and after the ratification of a new constitution in the country in July 2011. The study is based on an in-depth description of legislative compliance with the evolution of women’s representation in the House of Representatives, and it intends to highlight the role of women in the Council’s bodies in the empowerment of women and the development of democratic practice in accordance with the changes and international conventions ratified by Morocco.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
