In 2015 a new framework for the EU’s activities on gender equality and women’s empowerment in external relations for the period 2016-2020 has been adopted. This Joint Staff Working document aims to help partner countries, in particular developing, emerging and neighboring countries, to achieve tangible results on the road to equality between women and men, which is at the heart of European values, as well as new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
