This survey was conducted as part of a project by I WATCH to involve Tunisian women, including women in rural areas, in the political process by raising their awareness regarding the available opportunities for their political participation to improve their lives, as wel as by building their capacities and know-how through a participatory approach.
Carried out among 680 rural women from 8 regions namely Gabes, Jendouba, Sousse, Nabeul, Sfax, Sidi Bouzid, Tozeur and Kairouan, the survey shows that rural women are optimistic and enthusiastic about their own future and their political roles.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
