This diagnosis analyzes the level and quality of the participation of the women of Douar Hicher (Tunisia) in public, civil and political life. It intends to understand the factors behind the exclusion of women from the management of local affairs and the decision-making in the region of Douar Hicher. It highlights, particularly, family and social factors, the feminization of poverty, the lack of education and political training of women, conservative behaviors and violence against women (political activity is considered to be limited to men). It also shows how these different variables intertwine to move women away from public affairs.
