This study takes stock of inequalities between women and men today in France. This edition follows that of 2012 Women and Men - Views on Parity.
The study first provides an overview of the paths of women and men at different ages of life (schooling, family and professional life, retirement) and the resulting inequalities.
Four chapters analyse in depth different aspects of inequalities between women and men. The first describes the recent progress made in France concerning the access of women to managerial and senior leading positions at the beginning of their working life. The second is an overview of pension gaps between retired women and men in Europe. The third one focuses on the delinquency of women and men and the differences in treatment by the courts in France. The last issue deals with stereotypes about the social roles of women and men.
Thirty synthetic worksheets, presenting essential data and European comparisons, complete this panorama on women and men are also available.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
