The start of the 2016/2017 school year in France was marked by the arrival of a new subject: moral and civic education; citizen education; media education; development of critical thinking; and debate learning, and gender equality is at the heart of all these topics.
This study analyses how these new textbooks transmit a culture of equality to students: in the chapters dedicated to the fight against discrimination and the exercise of citizenship. The study speaks generally about the representations of women and men throughout the manual.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
