In this article, Marie-Cécile Naves, political scientist, vice-president of Sport and Citizenship and author of the book ’’ Le pouvoir du sport (The power of sport) ’’, co-written with Julian Jappert, explains how inequalities and gender discrimination are still immense in sport. According to the writer, French and international sports tend to take shelter behind the banner of "sports values" - meritocracy, respect for others, self-sacrifice, team spirit, etc. - to avoid questioning sport practices, which has often served as an excuse for strong inequalities between women and men, whether in terms of practice, media coverage, governance and access to responsibility posts.
