At the end of the 4th Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Ministerial Conference on Strengthening the Role of Women in Society which took place on 27 November 2017 in Cairo, ministers from the 43 Member countries of the UfM agreed on a common agenda focused on four priority areas: raising women’s participation in public life and decision-making; improving women’s economic participation; combating all forms of violence against women and girls; and eliminating gender stereotypes.
The Ministerial Conference was chaired by the Jordanian Minister of Social Development, Hala Lattouf, in the presence of the UfM Secretary General, Fathallah Sijilmassi. It was hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt represented by the President of the National Council for Women, Maya Morsy.

This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
