Climate change is not only one of the greatest environmental and development challenges facing the world today, it is one that will have critical impacts on human rights and inequalities, including gender inequality. That’s why the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and UN Women have collaborated in developing this practical manual to support the integration of gender equality in climate change interventions and climate finance. The manual is intended for use by climate change project proponents from governments, international and national direct access entities, and civil society organizations. It reviews the GCF Gender Policy and related programming provisions, including readiness support. It covers a number of gender mainstreaming tools and methodological approaches, which can be employed in designing projects, including gender analysis, gender assessment and action plans, and gender-responsive results or logical frameworks. These methodologies and tools are applicable to a broad range of climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
