To understand the controversy surrounding the inheritance law and the marriage of the Muslim woman with non-Muslim, Tunisian Political Science professor Mohamed Kerrou breaks down this problematic by trying to answer these three essential questions:1. Is this polemic, a civil or religious one?2. The actors of the polemic: who against whom?3. Inequality or equality between men and women?
In addressing these questions, Kerrou finds that resistance to change in social gender relations is the expression of a logic of power that privileges men at the expense of women. This resistance increase as the struggle of women advances and acquires support among women and men in order to achieve the principle of equality.
