Field diagnosis: Palestinian women and the political process: an insight into the West Bank

02.08.2017 / Created by (EMWF)

This field diagnosis, elaborated by Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC), acknowledges women’s effective role in Palestinian politics and examines the factors that hinder their representation in decision-making authorities. It also suggests number of recommendations to enhance the position of women in politics such as removing the social and cultural obstacles and amending the laws that clearly harm women’s rights.

The diagnosis was coordinated by the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation and the European Institute for the Mediterranean (IEMed), and is part of the Axis 1 “Strengthening the capacities of equality actors” of the Priority Solidarity Fund “Women for the future in the Mediterranean” funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, in the framework of the project “Developing Women’s Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
