In this article, Kamel Daoud wonders why Islamists are distressed by women? Where does this obsession come from? Reflecting on this question, he finds that it is possible to say that the relationship with women is a product derived from monotheisms in general: puritanical religions, born in disincarnated deserts, at the time of kidnapping and rape, which resulted in hiding women and imposing veil or burying them. It can also be said that this idea has persisted since prehistoric times: woman is not a warrior for the clan and the horde, she can not serve as a soldier and she is therefore a burden. Even with the advent of monotheism, the idea remained and comes back into the mind when prehistory comes back into history. Today’s Islamists are simply remembering an ancient history.
