This interim report is a draft text which was submitted to the vote of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) calls on the member states to strengthen their legal arsenal, to develop awareness campaigns, Education and training programs for professionals in contact with women and girls who have experienced or are at risk of genital mutilation. In this report, the Assembly encourages parliaments to take action against this harmful practice, which constitutes a serious violation of the rights of women and children.
