This report provides facts and numbers about the reality of violence against Women in Egypt, a country that ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), although with reservations to Article 2 on policy measures and Articles 16 regarding marriage and family life.The report casts light on gaps in the criminal code and other laws that do not protect Women, in addition to other cases of violence against women that the law tolerates such as domestic violence... It gives critics and recommendation for the implementation to national strategy to combat violence against women (VaW), which was launched in June 2015, and is set to be implemented over a five year period from 2015-2020.
