This publication aims to analyze violence against women in the context of contemporary Tunisia which since its independence has been characterized by a paradox: on the one hand, the prevalence of the patriarchal model, reinterpreted and updated in modern structures of politics and economics, on the other hand, the Tunisian women’s conquest of a new social position and new political, economic, social and cultural rights.
