Gender equality means an equal visibility, empowerment, responsibility and participation of women and men in all spheres of public and private life. It also means an equal access to resources and equal distribution of resources between women and men. Equality between women and men requires accepting and equally valuing the complementarity of women and men and the diverse roles they play in society. This document provides an overview of issues and problems related to Equality between Women and Men.
