Participatory diagnosis of violence against women and girls

21.12.2016 / Created by OIM

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. Violence against women and girls must stop. It hinder the right of women and girls to live in safety, cause physical and psychological harm that undermines their ability to build a future, and contribute to reinforcing unequal power relations between women and men. Civil society organizations in Morocco have been co-ordinating nationally and locally for several years to support women survivors of violence, promote behavioural change and advocate for adequate protection and justice services. Oxfam and the Mhashas Association are part of this dynamic and have implemented (between 2015 and 2016), with the collaboration of the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD), the project "Together for the promotion of an equal and free environment of violence against women in the province of Larache ". This project proposes an innovative and collective response to violence against women and girls in the province of Larache (urban district of Larache and rural communes of Laawamra, Rissana Janoubia, Ouled Ouchih and Sahel) on the basis of a diagnosis Participatory study on violence against women and girls which was the subject of this publication.
