Although the MENA region has achieved a lot of progress in the field of women´s education, a huge gender gap still persists in the field of women´s economic participation, and access to employment. This briefing argues that introducing diversity through gender parity will benefit economic growth and can help Arab countries generate prosperity. It discusses Arab women’s participation and representation in the region, with a particular focus on female education and labour forceparticipation rates. It then proceeds to examine how gender advancement will enhanceeconomic prosperity for Arab countries, before concluding with a number of keyrecommendations for policymakers.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
