On March 8th 2016, at the occasion of the international day of women rights, the European Parliament has honoured women refugees by adopting, by 388 votes, the « Honeyball » Report, which bears the name of its rapporteur, Mary Honeyball, a British Member of the European Parliament S&D. This report invites the Member States to take into account the particular situation of women refugees and asylum seeking women, arriving in the European Union, as well as to protect them and eliminate all sorts of discrimination and inequalities facing them.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
