Despite the progress made by Tunisian women towards gender equality, different types of discrimination still exists in many areas in Tunisia.This is a summary of a study that was conducted, as a part of the project of the national study on "gender-based violence in public space in Tunisia". The study focuses on two main things: 1)Casting light on the violence in the public sphere and determining its size; 2) understanding the unknown about, and the reasons of this violence. The study included a quantitative national survey, aimed at different representations of Tunisian society, and a qualitative study based on interviews with the male and female Tunisians from all around the country, in order to deepen the quantitative research results.
