This research note provides an overview of current EU policy and subsequently the current state of play in relation to pensions through the EU Member States. It then contextualises the gender gap in pensions in the context of the core domains of the Gender Equality Index and describes current inequalities in relation to economic independence. The research note concludes by discussing how to challenge current gender inequalities to work towards the eradication of the gender gap in pensions in the future.
