Following the integration process with European Union, Albania has an obligation to progress on gender equality area, such as developing and establishing effective mechanisms to address and overcome gender inequalities, as well as efficient tools and for prevention of gender based violence, rehabilitation and integration of its victims, and concrete results for advancement of women rights in all sectors of life. This article provides an overview of Albanian legislation on gender equality, and relevant recommendations for intensification of institutional steps to achieve gender equality in Albania.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
