This document focuses on the image of women in Tunisian media, after the fall of the regime of Ben Ali, and during the government of Al-Nahda Islamist party. It aims at making an inventory of the evolution of media performance in Tunisia, and the way it treats the subject of gender. It focuses on the image of women they broadcast, through the themes, abundance and choice of female characters or transmission of social stereotypes. The study aims to serve as a base for an advocacy campaign that targets the media, civil society, and authorities.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
