This report examines the extent to which Middle East and North Africa States have responded to their international obligations in accordance with the due diligence principle of protecting women from and preventing all types of violence. It attempts to do so by investigating States’ measures and actions that represent a response to the due diligence obligation to prevent, protect, prosecute, punish and provide redress for VAW. The report also seeks to highlight examples of good practices where this obligation is deemed to have been fulfilled, and to issue a set of recommendations for achieving the goal of preventing violence and protecting women in the region.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
