This report presents the findings of a quantitative and qualitative examination, of early marriage practices among Jordanians, as well as Palestinians and Syrians currently living in Jordan, it covers mainly the time period between 2005- 2012. The study focuses on cases of early marriage for girls under Islamic law, and it provides an insight into attitudes to child marriage, and establishes a baseline against which efforts could be done to eliminate this practice.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
